A table knocker was used in the 1940's when there was no applause at a nightclub.
Patrons were to hit the table with their knockers to indicate their appreciation of performances.
I have been collecting swizzle stir sticks for over 50 years, and have only come
across
table knockers a few times.
This Latin Quarter bar knocker I'm pretty sure dates back to the 1940's when the Latin Quarter was the Nightclub to go to. The list of famous entertainers that performed there is long.  It is rare to find a table knocker in this good of condition with the paint this bright. Don't miss out on this rare find!!
There is also one from the long closed Place Picalle from the New Orleans French Quarter.
