1794 S.47 R5 Head of 1794 Liberty Cap Large cent, PCGS F details, code 98 for surfaces smoothed.  The coin was lightly cleaned ages ago, and has retoned in slightly un-natural golden/tan/subtly iridescent shades.  It is pretty, but not perfectly brown and smooth.  What we don't see is anything else that would give us heartburn...certainly no smoothing of any kind.  PCGS is back on the prowl...searching for - and finding - things that we can't!   This seems like detective work on steroids, finding something for the sake of finding something.  Based on our combined 50+ years of numismatic experience, we grade the coin F15, and we think you'll agree with us.  It is a strong VF that had an old cleaning, and displays somewhat less than perfectly smooth surfaces, but there are no other concerns or issues.
