Description

In the 1950’s, 1960’s and early 1970’s plastic swizzle stir sticks were popular. Nowadays all you get is a straw if you are lucky. Patrons were encouraged to take the swizzles as a way for them to spread the word and advertise the venue. As time goes by these relics will continue to grow in value.
This lot includes my last
13 swizzle/stir sticks and a steak marker pick from Oregon. A
ll
13 are from venues that are now closed, demolished or repurposed. The only venue still open is the Heathman Hotel but “Le Cave” is closed.
One highlight is the
Barbary Coast
at the Hoyt Hotel in Portland which was demolished in 1977.  The Roaring 20's Club at this hotel was famous for a ladies restroom that featured a full time harpist, and a men's urinal that featured a life size replica of Fidel Castro. If a gentleman could hit the open mouth lights would turn on, sirens would go off and the urinal would flush. This swizzle alone is worth the buy price.
Don't miss out, this is my last Oregon set. Look close,
all
13 of the swizzles/markers are from venues that are now closed, demolished or repurposed. The only venue still open is the Heathman Hotel but “Le Cave” is closed.
At less than 60 cents per swizzle, don't miss out on this piece of Oregon history.
